Australia leads tourist arrivals in Fiji; new Aussie boss takes helm

<p style="text-align: justify;">Fiji arrival statistics for the month of October last year shows that Australia continues to be the main source for visitor arrivals, with 32,101 representing 54 percent of arrivals followed by New Zealand with 9,368 representing 16 percent.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Tourism Fiji’s Australia operations have put together a plan for 140 Australian travel industry personnel and professionals to visit Fiji for a conference in March. While they are in Fiji, they will be given the opportunity to see first-hand why the destination is so popular with so many Australians, says Tourism Fiji.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile an Australian has recently been selected to head Tourism Fiji. Michael Meade has been appointed as Acting CEO of Tourism Fiji. Mr Meade has held senior management and marketing roles in some of the world's leading hospitality and aviation brands.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">These include the InterContinental Hotels Group, Sheraton Hotels &amp; Resorts, Southern Pacific Hotels Corporation, Rendezvous Hospitality Group, Jin Jiang Hotels China and British Airways. Mr Meade has wide experience in Pacific tourism and has worked throughout the Asia-Pacific including positions based in Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaysia and Thailand.</p>
