Brisbane to host Solomon Islands business forum

<p style="text-align: justify;">A one-day Solomon Islands-Australia Business Forum in Brisbane will feature expert presentations on the current political, economic, commercial and investment climate in the Solomon Islands. This is the sixth time that the forum is being held.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The country’s economy has growing opportunities for Australian business to trade into the market and also for investment in existing and new industry opportunities. The economy is recovering from damaging floods in March 2014, with rehabilitation projects under way.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Solomon Islands Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo is the invited guest keynote speaker. He has also attended the past two forums. Senator Brett Mason, the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs’ Parliamentary Secretary, will represent the Minister.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Forum also provides excellent opportunities for contact with a range of senior businesspeople with wide experience of doing business in Solomon Islands.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There are excellent export opportunities in a wide range of sectors including mining and related industries, education and training, agri-business including sustainable timber industry, building and construction, security products, marine products, food and beverage supply and services, telecommunications and internet service providers, power generation, IT systems, tourism development and services, and more.</p>
