David Morris is PT&I Trade Commissioner in Beijing


David Morris has been appointed as the new Trade Commissioner, Pacific Islands Trade &amp; Invest (PT&amp;I) Beijing.<!--more-->

Mr Morris has more than 25 years of experience as a diplomat, senior trade and investment official and consultant on international, national and regional development. He has brought stakeholders together to create important new initiatives, to deliver high profile projects and has represented Australia on diplomatic postings and led trade, investment and education missions to China, Hungary, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia and the United States.

“I am humbled and honoured to work for the unique and diverse Pacific Island Countries and to help build stronger economic linkages to the global powerhouse economy of China”, Mr Morris told Pacific Periscope. “I look forward to working with the businesses of the Pacific to help grow sustainable trade, investment and tourism and to build enduring relationships with China”, he said.

Mr Morris was a senior adviser to Government in his home state of Tasmania, including on key economic and industry development projects, and managed whole of government international trade and investment promotion for Australia’s largest state of New South Wales. He has broad experience and expertise in international markets and a strong global network of business leaders that he has leveraged to help deliver trade and investment projects.

Mr Morris, 50, has a BA (Hons) from the University of Sydney (1988) and an MBA from Henley Business School (1998), with a major in international marketing and conducted original research on building country brands. You can follow him on Twitter: @dm_aus
