High level trade meetings in Fiji this month

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) in partnership with development partners and international technical agencies is convening a series of meetings this month.<!--more--> <a href="https://pacifictradeinvest.com/PTI/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/rsz_shipping-container-small.jpg"><img class=" size-full wp-image-7244 alignleft" src="https://pacifictradeinvest.com/PTI/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/rsz_shipping-container-small.jpg" alt="High quality 3D render shipping container during transport" width="138" height="104" /></a>The high level, trade related meetings will be held along with development partners (including the World Trade Organisation (WTO), World Bank/ International Finance Corporation (IFC), Commonwealth Secretariat, and the European Union) from August 17-22, 2015 at the Fijian Shangri-La Resort on Yanuca Island, Nadroga, Fiji.

Participants will learn about global trading systems and how they impact on Pacific economies; positioning the Pacific region to take advantage of market access opportunities in the US market and there will be opportunities to network with US buyers and investors. Addressing information gaps on trade agreements will also be discussed.

The following meetings and workshops will be held at the event: Pacific Regional Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) Workshop, 17-18 August, 2015; Pacific Island Countries (PICs) –United States (US) Regional Workshop on Trade, Investment and Private Sector Development, 19–20 August, 2015 (a day and a half); and Comprehensive Consultation on Pacific Trade, 20–22 August, 2015 (two and a half days).
