<b>Telecom Cook Islands launches 3G</b>
Telecom Cook Islands has launched 3G mobile data services, reports Cook Islands News. Initially the service is only available on Rarotonga, the report says quoting industry website TeleGeography. The launch is supported by increased international bandwidth through satellite operator O3b Networks, which was successfully trialled in December last year. Telecom Cook Islands offers a range of “Anytime” postpaid plans ranging from 100 MB to 1 GB. Prepaid data packs range from 100 MB to 1 GB.
<b>Flights from Fiji to Tonga’s Vava’u</b>
An air service agreement has been made allowing Fiji Airways flights between Fiji and the northern Tongan island group of Vava’u, reports Radio New Zealand International. Tonga’s Deputy Prime Minister, Samiu Vaipulu, told Television Tonga that the new travel arrangements will help boost the tourism sector, with more tourists able to visit Vava’u. Fiji Airways already flies to the Tongan capital Nuku’alofa on the southern island of Tongatapu. Mr Vaipulu says Fiji Airways also hopes to provide domestic flights for Tonga but this will first be discussed with the local airline Real Tonga, the report says.
