Once again the blend of overseas born Niueans returning home and adding input into the festival, resulting is a truly unique festival that mixes traditional and contemporary Niue culture and arts.

The programme that starts on April 19 runs until the 26th and will coincide with the Anzac Day Commemorations on April 25. The festival is completely dedicated to all things Niuean and was initiated in 2006 by Niue Fakalataha Ki Mua, a New Zealand based voluntary organization formed to create events celebrating Niue.

The Niue Arts & Cultural Festival was one of the initiatives led by Dr Colin Tukuitonga who was chief executive of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs at the time. The events included a Niue Business Expo, Niue Business Mission and Niue Ball.

The success of the Niue Arts and Cultural Festival has seen a trust being formed in New Zealand to support the event and this year Niue Tourism has taken the lead in organizing this year’s festival. The festival programme includes visual arts, cultural performances, crafts, displays and workshops.
