previous year’s export participants. This year’s workshops are quite specific, targeting both existing and new exporters and will provide an overview of the path to getting their products to market covering modules such as “Committing to Export”, “Planning for Export” and the “Implementation of your Export Plan” to name a few of the modules, says PT&I Trade Development Manager Teremoana Mato.

Ultimately the workshops will lead to a planned PNG Trade Mission to New Zealand in partnership in the first quarter of 2016. “We will use this follow up workshop as an opportunity to send out expressions of interest to exporters who may want to be a part of this mission. It is important during this process that we identify exporters who are ready export and will demonstrate consistency of supply and a quality product,” Mr Mato said.

New Zealand based consultant David Powell is assisting in the delivery of the workshop. Mr Powell is has over 20 years direct experience in international business and export industry strategy. He specialises in exporting, business growth, innovation, future thinking and economic development.

Mr Powell’s company provides services to a wide range of clients and trains groups of exporters in international marketing and is a sought after speaker and meeting facilitator. He has a passion for international social entrepreneurship and how it can impact social and economic development around the world. A number of Pacific exporters are comprised of farmer and family based groups, cooperatives and therefore his expertise in this area will help build the capabilities of these groups.
