An initiative of Pacific Islands Trade & Invest (PT&I), the European Union and the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has launched an online regional tourism investment database late last month. This is a first of its kind online data resource that is designed to bring potential investors and tourism investment projects in 17 countries together.

The online Regional Tourism Investment Database centralises a selection of investment opportunities in tourism assisting the work of Investment Promotion Agencies in marketing these projects. Accessible in more than 50 languages, the investment database targets interested foreign investors seeking bankable projects across the Pacific.

Ilisoni Vuidreketi, SPTO Chief Executive, acknowledged key partners Pacific Islands Trade & Invest, Sydney, and the European Union, noting that “With the presence of this online tourism investment directory, the awareness of business opportunities available in the Pacific’s tourism sector will be greatly enhanced as bankable projects are available online thus easily accessible any time. Key stakeholders in tourism across the Pacific will certainly find it a valuable tool for investment promotion.”

Tim Martin, Executive Manager Investment & Tourism at the Sydney offices of PT&I said, “Pacific Islands Trade & Invest are pleased to be presenting the region’s very first online tourism investment directory. With the aim of facilitating tourism investment enquiries, and providing a single contact and information point, we are confident that www.pacifictourisminvest.com will be of great service to international investors and Pacific businesses alike.”

Explaining the features of the website (www.pacifictourisminvest.com), Mr Martin said, “It features technology similar to that existing on the PT&I investment directory (searchable directory, Google maps, social media links, images), and will be a powerful platform for promoting Pacific tourism businesses to global investors.” The website is optimised for viewing on a desktop or on a handheld/tablet device.

“You will also note that on each of the Country Pages, we have put together relevant business information, air access information, and other useful links,” Mr Martin added. “There is no cost associated with being promoted on the directory, so I encourage you to direct investment-seeking tourism businesses of all sizes to us and we will ensure they are listed on the site.”
