Registrations are open for the Second Australia Vanuatu Business Forum to be held in Brisbane on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. The event offers an opportunity to get up to date information on trade, business possibilities and current events in Vanuatu.

The archipelagic nation of about 80 islands some 2000 km to the northeast of Brisbane has a population of approximately 200,000. Vanuatu's economy is driven largely by tourism and construction.

Tourism and tourism-related services sectors (wholesale and retail trade, hotels and restaurants, and transport and communication) and agriculture provide opportunities for investors. There are potential opportunities in donor funded infrastructure development. A new privately developed fibre-optic cable will create new opportunities in the IT and related sectors.

The Australia Fiji Business Council and the Fiji Australia Business Council are have also announced the 20th Australia Fiji Business Forum to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from July 28-30 2013.

The Forum theme is “Fiji IS Open For Business”. Participants can learn about business opportunities in Fiji and network with senior Australia and Fiji based policy makers as well as senior businesspeople.

The programme includes an overview of the political and economic conditions, especially on issues that affect business and investment, and will include specific sessions by expert presenters on doing business in Fiji, and on industry sectors such as resources, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing.

The Forum will include the inaugural Trade Expo to provide a practical opportunity for businesses from Fiji and Australia to showcase their products and services, and also features for the first time a Showcase of Contemporary Fiji Fashion Design at the pre-conference dinner on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
