Vanuatu joins WTO


Vanuatu has become the sixth Pacific nation to join the World Trade Organisation after Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga. It is the 156th country in the world to do so.<!--more-->

The Protocol of Accession were deposited with the WTO last week, signalling the country’s formal entry into the world trade body.

The entire process of consultations and negotiations took seventeen years, according to Vanuatu’s Ambassador to the European Union Roy Mickey Joy.
