It’s that time of the year again when, like the mythical Roman deity Janus, who peered into the past and the future with his two heads, we reminisce the year just gone by and look forward to 2018, which will be upon us in less than two weeks.  This was a busy year for the Communications and Marketing team, covering a record number of PTI events in New Zealand and across the region through our range of media platforms including Pacific Periscope (which you are now reading), social media and mainstream media news releases both here and in the Pacific.

The year was busy overall for the PTI NZ team, having hosted five trade shows featuring our Path to Market participants from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Niue.

It was great meeting with all our participants and retelling their interesting backstories and those of their lovely products through our media platforms with video interviews, stories on Pacific Periscope and social media posts.

The social media revolution has given a great opportunity to Pacific Island enterprises to increase their share of voice in the overall media landscape. And we at the PTI NZ Communications Team are always at the ready to assist in whatever we can to relay stories of Pacific enterprises, their products and services to our audiences far and wide.

Our social media interactions continue to grow by leaps and bounds. As we all know, digital media has the potential to instantly put us in touch with one another, with buyers, importers, suppliers and help us find markets across the planet.

We request you to please tell us about the interesting things you are doing with your enterprises and products, so we can broadcast your stories to wider audiences. In the crowded world of lookalike and me-too products, telling a product’s unique backstory well can contribute greatly to its success.

We greatly appreciate your continued feedback, ideas, news tips and contributions to make our communications more useful for our clients and stakeholders alike. Every ‘like’, every comment spurs us on to do better. Thank you for your encouragement.

In the New Year, we plan to work toward adding more features and functionalities to our media platforms toward connecting better and more meaningfully with our Pacific Island companies and stakeholders to maximise communications and marketing outcomes. We will also look toward integrating innovative digital initiatives to enhance our service offering like our Pacific Hub and the online retail platform True Pacific. Watch this space…

Merry Christmas. Have a pleasant, enjoyable and safe holiday season with family and friends and wish you a Happy New Year filled with good health, much wealth and lots and lots of cheer!
