Oshin Organics, the newly re-branded skincare range from Papua New Guinea’s MaxtoneHaus has already impressed.  Its Facebook page fans scored it 4.9 stars out of 5.Oshin Organics is the natural organic skincare range created by business entrepreneur Ernestine Maxtone of MaxtoneHaus of PNG.

Ms Maxtone is an alumnus of the Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand’s  Path to Market programme.  She was invited to attend Auckland’s Pasifika Festival in 2017 and is back to showcase the new brand at this year’s PTI NZ’s Pasifika Business Market.

The new Oshin Organics Coconut Oil body oil moisturisers range is infused with lemongrass, frangipani and vanilla.  The soaps are also organic, infused with natural herbs, vanilla and lemongrass.

One Facebook reviewer ticked all the boxes impressed with how the soap made her skin feel.

“I have very sensitive skin and have to be careful with the soap I used.  These soaps are AMAZING!  The soap lathers well, smells divine and leaves your skin feeling silky.  Organic and PNG made.  There is much to LOVE!! Highly recommended.” – Joy Yip, August 24, 2017.

Another noted the products were “great and affordable natural products and I always use them.  Perfect for hair and body” – Pearl Waters, October 12, 2017.

Several other reviewers also gave the skincare the thumbs up.

PTI NZ’s Path to Market programme is a 7-stage structured approach to help potential Pacific Island exporters understand more about New Zealand’s market place.  Ms Maxtone was in the process of rebranding her product range and labels at the time of last year’s Pasifika as well as moving premises.

MaxtoneHaus moved its location to Kimbe, West New Britain.  The Province is ‘virtually untouched and unexplored’.  Kimbe Bay is fringed by volcanic mountains, famed amongt divers for its deep sea volcanic cave systems and staghorn coral reefs.

The brand was relaunched but “the Tree of Life” or the coconut palm was kept at the heart in the logo.  Oshin Organics purpose is clearly stated – “Reawakening the world to the benefits of the “tree of life.”  The company core values and goals are wide ranging with a keen eye on the future, mindful that communities and suppliers rely on its success;  Engaging local PNG resources, using organically-grown skincare products; encouraging sustainable agricultural practices, informing customers of every ingredient in their products and constantly striving for continuous product improvement.

Building a reputable company for quality, healthy sustainable products, improving the lives of Melanesian people through employment, helping growers provide sustainable raw products, providing a safe and modern working environment; creativity and innovation; focusing on customer needs and dealing fairly with its supply chain partners and giving back to its community.

Although it’s a big list for a small company, they have already ticked several boxes and gained many loyal fans.  After Pasifika Festival they will hopefully achieve more tick boxes and a lot more followers.

Visit Oshin Organics at the Pasifika Business Market – Pasifika Festival, Western Springs, Auckland on 24-25 March 2018.
