2017 has been a very productive year our export facilitation programme.
Our engagement with Pacific Island companies and economic development agencies in the Pacific Islands have continued to grow via our flagship programme, Path to Market. With a growing number of companies coming through our Path to Market pipeline, we focused on developing platforms in-market to help our companies promote their products and connect with New Zealand customers.
This year we established platforms in several trade and consumer shows including the Pasifika Festival, Auckland Food Show, Spring Giftware and Homeware Fair, Chocolate and Coffee Show and the Live Well Festival.
It was a highlight to work with a range of Pacific Island companies and products at these trade shows this year. We had a strong Pacific presence that these events and it was great to see the organizers support our initiatives by promoting our ‘Pacific Hub’ stand as a main feature at events such as the Auckland Food Show. We generated many leads and were happy that the programme helped our Pacific companies secure export deals to New Zealand.
Another highlight was partnering with Nishi Trading, Tinopai Farms, Turners and Growers, Tofe Ofa Atu and CocoNew to establish Tongan Export Week to promote a range of products from Tonga currently sold in New Zealand.
It was also great working with young leaders from the Pacific Island region through our internship programme which were delivered in partnership with Business Trade and Investment Board (BTIB), Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF). Thank you Mona Taio, Ino Esera, Genevieve Mautu, Sakura Aoki-Danielson, Shulei Andrew and Sia Fatu for your hard work this year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Pacific Island export clients, New Zealand importers and distributors, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, our PTI advisory board, Pacific Island regional organization partners, the Governments of the Pacific Islands and our economic development partners in the Pacific Islands and New Zealand as well as my colleagues in the other international PTI offices for their support.
Thank you to my colleagues in the PTI New Zealand office for another great year.
I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
