The New Zealand High Commissioner to Samoa and Consul General to American Samoa has expressed his support of Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand’s activities throughout the Pacific nation.

While in Apia for the Path to Market Trade and Investment workshop, PTI Trade Development Manager Ian Furlong connected with HE Dr Trevor Matheson in Apia in what was a positive meeting.

Ian briefed the High Commissioner on the workshop, facilitated by PTI, was focussed on export capability building and investment profiling to assist companies to attract investors into their business.

He also shared statistics around Samoa’s domestic exports, which increased by 75 percent for January to August 2019 versus 2018, according to the Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters – an indication of good progress for the export sector.

“Dr Matheson was very supportive of our activities and was interested in Samoa increasing its exports as a way of promoting economic growth,” Ian says.

“He also spoke of the relaunch of Samoa Business Enterprise Centre as the Samoa Business Hub and that this would provide a renewed support focus for private sector in Samoa.”
