Meet Shivani Prasad, our new Office Administrator at Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand in Auckland.

Shivani Prasad is PTI NZ’s new Office Administrator.

Ms Prasad, who started this week, was born and raised in Fiji. Arriving from Fiji only just a couple of weeks ago, she said she was really pleased that her work will have so much to do with Fiji and the Pacific Islands.

“I’ve lived all my life in an island environment, and I am so happy that I am now with an organisation that works to help people and businesses in the islands. I am so excited to see so many products made in Fiji in the office.” she told Pacific Periscope.

Only in her third week in New Zealand, Ms Prasad along with her accountant husband and six-month-old son, won New Zealand’s Pacific Access Category lottery, which put them on a path to permanent residency in this country.

“Our desire to move was to pursue a better life for us and our young son and also that we have so many of our family here in New Zealand,” she said. Her parents live in Fiji with her only sibling, a younger sister, who is training to be a doctor pursuing her MBBS degree at the Fiji School of Medicine.

Ms Prasad has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, Management and International Business Marketing from the University of the South Pacific, Suva, and a Diploma in Business (Accounting) from the University of Fiji besides an Advance Certificate in online accounting tool MYOB.

“I’m very much a people’s person and enjoy meeting, conversing and interacting with people of different backgrounds. I’m really looking forward to this part of my role as Office Administrator,” she said.

She has previously worked as a Premium Business Teller with Bank of the South Pacific, one of the region’s fastest growing banks, where she started off as Trainee Personal Banker. She also worked three years with Fiji’s leading BPO and contact centre company MindPearl as Customer Service and Sales Representative.

Her other stints have been at accounting firm The Accounting Solution as Administrative Manager and at the Fiji National University as Clerical Officer.

Ms Prasad likes reading, cooking, designing clothes, wedding makeup and henna – and travelling. “I am hoping to travel to South East Asian destinations, something I’ve always wanted to do for a long time,” she said.

PTI NZ warmly welcomes Ms Prasad into the team.
