Tis the season for being at trades show. Our Japanese office have been busy participating in the 22nd Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo held from September 30th to October 2nd. This is Japan’s leading international seafood trade fair, with more than 35,000 people involved in the fisheries industry from Japan and overseas. 

The three-day fisheries market is an opportunity share global fishing trends, from local ingredients in various parts of Japan to fisheries’ raw materials around the world. It also showcases new technologies and services supporting the development of the fishery industry. 

With the pandemic placing restrictions on people’s movements, this year the organisers of the show took a digital approach and created an “e-Seafood Show” portal to facilitate online business meetings. Using the Power of Travel to Inspire Japan and the World! 

The Japan Travel and Tourism Association, the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) held the Tourism EXPO Japan Okinawa Business Meetings & Exhibition from October 29th  to Sunday November 1st  , at This year’s event, which was the seventh in the series, was titled “Using the Power of Travel to Inspire Japan and the World!”  

the Okinawa Convention Centre and Ginowan Municipal Multipurpose Sports Grounds.  

Pacific Islands Centre (PIC), part of the PTI Network showcased 14 Pacific Island countries at the expo. The exhibitors proved to be popular among visitors even though movement was restricted due to COVID. Read more here. 

Attendees shared a safe, secure event model for the new age, bringing a new form of tourism to help revive the struggling tourism industry. 285 companies and organisations from 30 countries and regions around the world participated, and the total number of visitors for the four days of the event reached a total of 24,080.
