Christmas season has always been that special time of the year everyone looks forward to. So, I hope everyone is in good health and spirits waiting for the festive season. For those who haven’t known me, I’m Sonia. I just joined PTI NZ as an intern for the summer period a few weeks ago through Pacific Cooperation Foundation internship programme.

So, in about two weeks, fireworks would light up the skies again, outshining the pale moonlight whilst we celebrate the passing of 2018 and recall things we’ve achieved and the things we haven’t throughout the year and set new goals for the coming new year.

For me personally, 2018 has been quite a steady year with me trying to finish off my studies and now ending this year and starting the new year with a ten-week internship with PTI NZ to broaden my skills and knowledge.

As a community, 2018 has been quite a challenging year seeing the natural disasters that happened in several parts around the world as well as the geo-political tensions among the global economic leaders.

However, remembering the meaning of Christmas celebrations, which is a promise of a new start with new hopes and joyful things to come, I hope these situations around the globe will get better!

Lastly, for those travelling home for Christmas, safe travels! May the Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year. Here’s wishing you a joyous Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!
