Zonah’s premium organic Fijian-grown spices at Food Show

Fijian grown organic agricultural products company Zonah United is one of the nine companies that Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand is featuring at this year’s Auckland Food Show next month.

“We are glad we have been recommended and invited to take part in the Auckland Food Show,” Naheeda Maqbool, Zonah United’s General Manager told Pacific Periscope.

“This is our company’s first participation in the 2019 Auckland Food Show and we are looking forward to getting more exposure of our Fijian grown organic products.”

Among the newer products that Zonah United will be displaying at the Auckland Food Show from its range of retail packaged ‘Natural’ branded Fijian grown organic spices are organic cinnamon powder and organic turmeric powder – both in premium packaging for the retail market, Ms Maqbool said.

Zonah United also deals in Fijian ginger, honey and bottled water besides cinnamon and turmeric and is engaged in importing food products into Fiji and distributing them, as detailed on its website.

The company had small beginnings focusing on initiatives to assist the rural Fijian community, especially women, to help provide a source of income for them to achieve a better standard of living for their families. The company was registered in 2012 with its head office in Suva.

Rural women remain central to the company’s operations. “We are very proud that our company empowers women to be able to take up positions in the company that have always been men-oriented – such as truck drivers, loaders and farmers,” Ms Maqbool said.

“Our vision is to increase our production, manufacturing and deliver our premium packed Fijian grown organic spices ready for retail so that we are able to work with more rural communities and help many other families who currently are unemployed.”

Ms Maqbool says Zonah United is looking to talk to distributors and retailers in Auckland and New Zealand to expand their exports into this country. “Our company is looking forward to working with reputable buyers from New Zealand so that our products are able to reach the New Zealand market as well. We are looking forward to exporting our product to New Zealand in 2019.”

Following participation at the PTI NZ stand at the Auckland Food Show next month, Zonah United is looking forward to its participation at the Fine Food Australia event later this year in Sydney, Ms Maqbool said.

The Auckland Food Show is Auckland’s biggest business-to-consumer show that connects hundreds of exhibitors with tens of thousands of food and beverage lovers. Visitors come in not only from Auckland but also from other major cities around New Zealand.
